Leonid Ivanovich Rogozov (Леонид Иванович Рогозов, 14 March 1934 - 21 Sept 2000) was a Russian general practitioner who took part in the sixth Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1960–61.
While stationed at the Soviet Novolazarevskaja Research Station in Antarctica, he developed peritonitis. As the only doctor stationed there, he had no choice but to perform an appendectomy on himself, removing his infected appendix on 30 April 1961. The operation lasted one hour and 45 minutes and is a famous example of self-surgery.
